Waiting impatiently
Finally got the conformation email that my traditions UL LDR was in stock and it shipped out mid last week. This waiting stuff KILLS me, I start going nuts looking for things to do to keep me busy and the days just drag on. Once i swear that UPS truck rumbling up the drive way, I'll have every ready! I ordered it without sights so i could just install my truglow ghost ring/globe sight and head out to the 50 yard range to get it sighted in quickly.
Im excited to see how this one is built and how the breech plug works out. |
I didn't know which model it was until I found this short video about it:
http://www.gameandfishmag.com/2012/0...ltralight-ldr/ That video was made in the Traditions factory store that they have which is basically two rooms that's loaded with stuff. Plus they'll get anything out of the warehouse that a customer wants while they wait. I try to go there to check it out once in a while, but this is the first time that I've ever seen a video that was made there. |
MD.. I don't mean anything by this. And if you wanted a new rifle, all the more power to you. But what made you decide on this rifle? I mean you have a couple CVA Accura rifles and others. Is this going to be turned into a long range shooter?
Watching that video.. do you think they could have found a longer scope for that thing? My goodness.. a simple Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x40 would have been a lot shorter and lighter. But that is a nice looking rifle. You will like those grip areas on the stock. My Remington has them and they sure make the rifle nice to hold on to. |
Well the UL LDR came fedex today! One hell of a nice rifle and with the bipod and scope, its STILL freakin light weight. Just fully cleaned it, photo'd it and am going to 50 yards to see how it does. Breech plug will need the metric O ring install to make it blow by free.

Here she is! Beautiful rifle and surprisingly is NOT barrel heavy. It balances out perfectly. Scope is a Traditions 4-12x40 with ballistic reticle, super clear as well. Trigger breaks clean and crisp at 48oz. Breech plug is nice as well and does work as advertised, with blackhorn209 at least anyway. Still have to try some pellet powder as well as pyrodex loose and see how it handles. Inside the gun box i was really surprised to find a bipod! I didn't think the one i ordered came with it but dang! If i had the right bag for under the stock, I could have shot off that sucker, it was really darn steady on my shooting table.
I still have some fine tuning to do tomorrow with the scope, but I had a great day with this rifle and it can only get better. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Installed metric O ring so blow by would not be a mess ![]() ![]() So I wouldn't have to edit the photo and say which shots were which. These are the final 3 shots @ 100 yards with 90gr blackhorn209, cci 209m primers, 250gr powerbelt aerolite. Group measured 1 1/2" on a hot barrel. ![]() ![]() 23 shots later, ![]() ![]() The buck reaper camo is real cool! ![]() |
For a hot barrel.. that is some great shooting. Heck that's good on a cool barrel. Nice looking rifle. With a 12x optical advantage you should be able to reach out there and touch someone.
|
In my humble but expert opinion they should have upped the twist in that 30 inch barrel to 1:24 instead of staying with a 1:28. :s4:
|
Took her for a hike late this evening up the valley with my fat pooch. Real comfortable to carry, I didn't have a sling to put on so i carried it as i would when still hunting, also resting over my shoulder. No problems in the thicker oak brush although i was careful not to hurt her LOL.

Good looking gun Devil. And a good shooter to boot.
