Guess what I'll be shooting from the .50 caliber GM/LRH/TC Renegade tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to your report Semi. Is it hot down there? It is near 90 here today.
I am really looking forward to getting the scale you pointed me towards so I can weigh my own. Did you have to calibrate that scale? Art |
We're having daytime highs around 89 degrees and nighttime lows around 72 Flounder. Too hot and humid to shoot during the middle of the day, but tolerable for morning and evening sessions.
The weights shown on that picture are not correct. They should all be in the 300's, not 400's. I fixed it in Photobucket but the corrected copy is not uploading here yet. The scale automatically sets to 0.0 when you turn it on. If it does not, all you need do is turn it off and on again and it self corrects. The key to getting good readings is to set the bullet down gently in the center of the weigh plate. I've checked its consistency by alternately weighing the same two bullets a half dozen times and always get the same weight for each. It's an impressive scale for something so inexpensive. |
Purdy bullets! The guy that made those should be applauded!
Going out now with the Apex to give them a try with 70gr BH209 @ 50 yards. |
I cast .45 Maxiballs but not .50s. It will be interesting to see the report when you decide to shoot them. What u going to use for a lube? That is one reason I don't like shooting them when its hot. Can't keep the lube on unless you stiffen it with bees wax
|
Alox stays on pretty good! Just have to use a light coating of lube on conicals, any more and it just causes thick fouling.
|
I never like Alox. Some guys swear by it. I'd rather use Crisco than Alox. But that's just me. My lube in hot weather is a 75/25 mixture of bore butter and beeswax.
