Been a great Spring...
 

For those that don't know, North Carolina went decades with no legal turkey season...I grew up hearing my dad talk about hunting them in the '30s...About 10 years ago turkey hunting became legal in most of the state and I have been lucky enough to have success almost every year since...

My hunting buddy and I spent the first week in our hunting cabin down east...We ended up calling in 9 birds but we let all but 2 walk as we didn't want to use all our tags too soon...I also had a black bear come by two mornings in a row...I killed my bird on Wednesday, he had an 11 inch beard...



My buddy's bird was killed Monday, he had a 10 inch beard...




Anyone else love calling in these beautiful birds???

Congratulations. Those are some nice turkeys. I spent opening week in Virginia. In one week off of an 80 acre farm the 3 of us that went each got a turkey. All 3 had 9 and a half inch beards. I knew when I saw 32 hens on the farm the week before opening day that we were in for some action. There was at least 5 toms there during opening week. I have lived in Charlotte my whole life and I can remember when squirrels and quail were the only game around. I actually hear turkeys from my house in Pineville occasionally.

Man what a great huntiong story and nice birds. My season is done and it was a tough year for me. But still super fun. Congradualtions.

Awesome birds, the only thing I got during turkey season was two hogs.

Told myself that i was going to either tag out with my bow or eat tag soup. Well let me tell ya, Bacon wrapped turkey on the grill tastes much better than tags lol. congrats hawkeye!!!!
