Default I hit the range today.

Or should I say the range hit me. At least the shells from an AK hit me a couple of times. And they kept landing on my shooting table. I have to get my own place to shoot!
Anyway, I started out at 10 yards with my new .32 caliber Traditions Deerhunter. The first two shots from the rifle are at the bottom of the target. The following shots were made after scope adjustments to raise the point of impact. I don't remember what is up with the hole at the top of the target.

The next target was shot at 25 yards after the scope adjustments were complete.

The next target was shot at 50 yards with no cleaning between shots and no scope adjustments.

Since the shots seemed to be stringing out, I decided to clean between shots and see what would happen. I was beginning to get a little confused at this point trying to figure this group out. I thought the rifle was going to shoot better than this from my earlier targets.

At this point I was getting tired of shell casings landing all around me so after shots 1 and 2, which were really confusing to me, I switched from 25 grains fffg Goex to 30 grains Pyrodex RS and shot three shots without cleaning between shots and figured I would leave well enough alone and try another day when I, hopefully, wouldn't have to dodge AK casings.

I tell you what.. public ranges are the most distracting places you can shoot. Guns going off, people laughing, and there always seems to be one loud mouth that has to holler out his instructions or horse laugh at ear splitting decibels.

I remember once, I was at a range and the stations were really close. I was shooting my Remington Woodsmaster 742 30-06 carbine. And this fellow came up with a chair. He wanted to watch his friend shooting next to me. And he was about to sit on the ejection side of me, way too close.

I mentioned that might not be a good place to sit. And like the intelligent person he was.. he ignored me. I figured he'd learn. That little Semi Auto rifle ejected a 30-06 brass and it flipped through the air and landed right in his front shirt pocket. Now anyone that ever grabbed one of those ejected cartridges knows.. THEY ARE HOT!! All of a sudden, he screamed like he sat on a snake. And I watched him tear the pocket right off his shirt. He gave me this dirty look. And I could tell he was mad at me. So I did what anyone else would do, I smiled and ignored him. And he did move before I could shoot again.

Actually for the first time out, that rifle shows a lot of promise. Were you swabbing between shots. I heard you have to swab a .32 to make them accurate.

WOW! That Pyrodex group is as good as it gets at 50 yards. Watch out squirrels.

cayugad,
I didn't start swabbing between shots until target #4. I was only swabbing between targets. Then after the fist 2 shots at target #5, I shot all three shots with a fouled bore.
Semisane,
I just checked the backer board against target #5 this morning to be positive of what I was already pretty sure of, and that was if that group truly was 3 shots. It is official. You can clearly see two of the 3 shots overlapping one another on the backer board.
I am anxious to shoot this rifle again to be sure that group wasn't just luck. A guy at the range said he has some .32 caliber Maxiballs he couldn't use and said he would bring them to the range next Tuesday. I hope he does. I would love to try shooting some of them out of this rifle and see how they group.
Other than having to deal with people who just don't care about where their shell casings are going, I enjoyed yesterdays shooting experience. It was really nice to shoot a muzzle loader without feeling any pain at all. This little .32 caliber rifle is a joy to shoot.

If i have to go to a public range, I try to get there first thing in the morning. Usually less wind and a lot less people.
