Its been slow around my house other than work lately, no hunting or shooting. The wife and I our going down to south Arkansas later this month to visit with our daughter. From there were going on down to Shreveport and Bossier city LA to the boardwalk and Bass Pro so I can get me a Nikon Omega for my new Triumph ML. When she is all sighted in and ready I'm gonna take her up to the cabin and try to break her in on a hog. Here is a pic of one I shot last fall with my bow.

I so wish we had hogs around here....

cayugad 03-12-2012 07:01 AM

Muley Hunter 03-12-2012 07:06 AM

I wish we had hogs here. I bet that's good eating.

gman57 03-12-2012 07:10 AM

that is some nice pork on the hoof and a hellava bow kill, what broadhead did you use?

I wish we had hogs here.
I used to think that - until we got them. Now we're doing everything we can to eliminate them. They do make a fine meal though.

gregrn43 - that is one heck of a nice looking hog -HUGE!!!

Semi - I made the mistake of suggesting one time at the gun club 'wouldn't it be nice to have wild hogs and be able hunt them' HUGE MISTAKE:bash: Most of the folks at the club are wheat/barely/lentil/cattle farmers - they just about come un-glued.

Bet they would send you a batch of our wolves though...

Yeah, I see they got out of hand like the wolves did. What sort of hunting season do they give you?

In Louisiana you can hunt them year round, and day or night on private land.

Muley Hunter 03-12-2012 07:41 AM

Not public land?

The only game we can hunt year around are coyotes, and you sure aren't going to eat one of those. Yuk!

Semisane 03-12-2012 07:56 AM

Not public land?

On wildlife management areas you can only hunt hogs when some other hunting season is in effect and using whatever weapon allowed for that season.

gregrn43 03-12-2012 08:16 AM

Dave she weighed 167 dressed
Gman I shoot regular Muzzy broadheads and a complete pass thru on her
Oh by the way they are very good eating, I had rather eat one of these than a tame hog. Cant wait to break in my new TC on one.

Yea...Our deer herd has enough problems dealing with predators without having to compete with Hogs for food. I would like to shoot one someday though with a flintlock.
