Default T/C Hawken question

Hey guys,

Got a T/C Hawken question. Just scored my first one used in .50 cal. One concern is the hammer spur, the screw that holds it on. You guys with Hawkens, is the hammer on there pretty tight? Does is shake back and forth sideways? The screw that is holding mine on has very little thread and almost seems stripped out. Should that hammer be tighter? Do I need to look for a new screw? Appreciate any comments.

Well not super tight but it should not wiggle back and fourth too much. With age they tend to wear. You can call T/C and get a replacement. No telling how long that will take. Or you can go to a hardware store and get one if you know the length, threads, etc. I think Mountain Devil has the same problem as you.

Hard for me to tell without putting my hands on it...

Do you mean the screw isn't holding the hammer tight
or the hammer has some side to side movement??

Sometimes the tumbler (the part the hammer attaches to)
will have some side to side play...This doesn't usually affect
how the lock works...

Thanks for the comments. I need to call TC and see what they might suggest. I think the screw is bad.

Hey guys,

Quick update. Called S&W-T/C. Told them i needed a new hammer screw for my new used Hawken. Said they would ship it out, no questions asked. Received two screws from them in the mail today, yep two, i got a spare. New screw totally fixed my issue and i remain impressed with their customer service. I cant wait to shoot this Hawken.

Try here if you don't want to wait

http://www.rmcsports.com/catalog.htm

They sell parts for T/C locks. Make sure the threads in the tumbler aren't bad as well. You wouldn't want to put a new screw in only to strip it out again.
