Pet loads for T/C Seneca .36
Hey, any of you boys got a pet load for a T/C Seneca using either RB or Maxi??? I have a really nice used .36 that the Mrs. bought me for Xmas about 10 years ago and I haven't ran a dozen shots through it since I got it, so I don't have anything developed yet but I have both .350 roundball and a T/C Maxi mould. Let me know what they like the taste of...Thanks,

Shot the Seneca today
Did some shooting with my T/C Seneca .36 today. I shot both .350 RB and T/C Maxi ball.
For the first target, I shot three groups with the .350 RB. The first and second were with .018 square-cut pillowtick patches moistened with Moosemilk...not impressed. The first group (bottom) was with a 6:00 hold, the second (top) was with a dead-on hold and the third (middle) was a 6:00 hold with .015 pre-cut patches lubed with 1000+ Wonderlube. I used a 30gr charge of FFFg for all three. ![]() The second target was again with .350 RB and .015 pre-cut patches lubed with 1000+ Wlube. I shot the first group with 30gr and the second group with 35gr using a 6:00 hold for both. ![]() For the third target, I shot two groups with 40gr FFFg T/C .36 Maxi-ball lubed with bore butter and a felt wad between powder and Maxi. I used a 6:00 hold for the first three shot group (bottom) with Maxi's and a dead-on hold for the second group (top) with Maxi's. I then went back to the .015 patch and ball combo with the same 40gr charge and shot a five shot group (middle) using a 6:00 hold. ![]() I was shooting today from a comfortable rest and bags @ 25 yards. There was a steady crosswind most of the afternoon but I don't think it affected my shooting any. This little rifle has those AWFUL Patridge-style sights that I absolutely can't stand. When I get my sight picture, I hold the front blade flush with the top of the rear sight. I know full well that I could draw the front sight down into the notch deeper, but I don't like to play that game as I feel it's too inconsistent. The rifle has adjustable sights for a reason. The problem is, the rear sight is bottomed out. For you "crank up the powder charge" boys, I'm not gonna go beyond a 50gr charge in this gun so that point is moot. It looks like I may end up putting a higher front sight on this one as well, or possibly replacing both. BPS |
