Shooting rest?

What type of rest or bag do you guys shoot from? I'm thinking of picking one up, wanted to get some input. Was leaning towards a bag...Caldwell makes a big one called the Tack Driver. Anyone have experience with it?

I don't shoot a ton, and I'm not really interested in spending a lot of $....but would like to have something better than I have now. I used to have a Bulls Bag years ago, but a friend borrowed it and...well, you know the rest of that story. I thought the Caldwell bag might work similarly. They also make some 2pc bags that look like they might work well also.

Any comments or suggestions on a good rest that won't break the bank?

Also, if I do get a bag...what is the best thing to fill them with?

thx

the tack driver is really darn nice, ive been using it a lot lately. Get a low bag to put under the rear of the stock and its solid.

I was going to recommend the Caldwell Rock @ $70 from Amazon, but after looking up the 'Tack Driver' is is lot less expensive than I thought. I also agree with MD you might want to get a second bag for under the stock...

I use to use a 'Tack Driver' but I did not find it versitile enough for me so I switched 'The Rock Jr.' and here this month I went to 'The Rock'.

You can see 'The Rock' under the front of this ML...

I use the "Rock" also, very stable and easy to adjust.

Thanks guys.

MD, good idea on the rest for the rear. Never used one of those with my bulls bag, though it appears it was a good bit shorter/lower than the tack driver is. I can see where that would help alot.

Ok, if I decide on the tack driver....what's the best thing to fill it with?

I got mine prefilled so Caldwell would be the place to ask.

Whatever tickles your fancy - sand, rice, corn, sawdust, Styrofoam pellets, etc.
