I was wondering about the sites too , I got the same thing in .504. I seem to be a sucker for those laminated stock.I installed the Williams WGRS peep and have had good luck with it.

Mine likes the 460 No Ex or the White Power Punch.

Nope, the model 98 has the same action as the model 91, it is the thunderbolt that has the bolt action. The main differences between the 91 and the 98 are that the model 98 usually has a Clerke barrel and the model 98 does not have the underrib. I thought all the model 91's still used the Williams sights. This one must be a late model 91.
Of course, with White rifles there are exceptions. A lot of them are unique in one way or another.

I sure like the color of that stock.
It's a super 91

he said it was one of the last ones from the factory so I figured that's probably why. Dont really know for sure.

the front sight got broke in his gun safe and was just epoxied back on. I didnt worry to much about the sights since I planned on scoping it.

Either way, welcome to the wonderfull world of Whites. Doc had built every gun to serve many years of use. I have said it before, its a shame they don't make um like they use to.To bad they are not in production still

Prolly a Super 91-II, Blued barrel with black ice and lam stock marbles sights. Should have 2 plastic ramrod ferrels instead of the full length metal under rib that the originals had. Doc found a basement full of new old stock barreled actions, all blue steel and re-ferbished them with lam stocks and what ever spare parts he had on hand to complete the rifles. Doc sold them as did White/Splitfire until they ran out of parts. Not all the ones Doc sold were black iced but the ones White/Splitfire sold were all black iced.

The 98 also has the heavier lugs in the bedding system. Due to that and the heavier barrel, along with a slightly heavier stock design, it's just a heavier rifle than the 91s.
