I changed over to a .54 caliber Renegade (my first muzzle loader and still one of my favorites) and things sure changed. I really had to hunt after that.

I currently have way too many muzzleloaders. More then a person needs. but I have sold a few recently and give some away. So I am starting to get better.
So, now you sit in your stand...shoot a deer... and go home?

Sounds like the right plan to me.

41...........Dad bought me my first at the ripe age of 13. Still have it a T/C Renegade. Stopped centerfire hunting a long time ago. Used just the bow for many years and put the smoke poles back in the mix around 2004. But even this year only took out the Encore 2 days out of over 40 in the woods.

I am 26, sounds like one of the younger ones here. I have hunted with a muzzleloader every year since I was 14 when I shot my first muzzleloader deer and currently own 3. Around here "gun hunting" generally means toting a shotgun into the woods but I always have been a muzzleloader guy so far....

Lately, I have to spot and stalk just to see a deer. The days of sitting all day on a comfortable chair is over. And I have no idea how fast a person heals, but if I have to get my knee replaced.. I might have to sit a season out completely.

I hear you recover from knee replacement real quick. I hope so I just ordered ten logger cord of maple wood for my wood stoves.

They've come a long way in knee surgery. It was horrible in the old days.

I would rather not divulge personal information such as my age on the internet, but, I ordered my first muzzle loader about 26 years ago. It was a cannon. For some reason shooting that thing was such a thrill I told my wife I wanted to try shooting a muzzle loader rifle. That Christmas there was a .50 caliber Thompson Center Hawkins kit and a .32 caliber CVA Pioneer pistol kit under the tree. I'm afraid there has been no turning back from there. Damn that canon! I should take it out and shoot it some time. I did vote my age group on the poll though.

Why not Pluckit? As long as you're over 18 we won't get in trouble
