Ramrod Thimbles

So rather than screwing them on which i agree may be a lot easier than my plan....

But have any of you ever Soldered on the ramrod pipes? I know Lyman does it on their rifles and I figured i would venture into this area and get some advice first.

I haven't done it. But it shouldn't be very difficult. File a slightly flat spot on the thimble. degrease the thimble and barrel real well. Tin the flat spot. lightly coat the tinned area with flux. Secure it to the barrel with a C-clamp and apply heat until the tinning melts.

Don't know how durable it would be soldered that way. at least it doesn't require a lot of heat:biggrin:make a mess of the barrel though:s5:

well scratch that idea. The barrel and under rib is already drilled for the thimbles.. EXCEPT for one hole. Any clue to what thread size TC uses on their ramrod thimble screws?
