Question on pricing
Guys, I was so astounded by my Win 94 deal, I forgot to mention something else I am bouncing around. What is the price of a used Renegade these days? He has one that cosmetically is in horrible shape. I mean the bluing is completely a wreck. Not rusted just worn of. Or it may have even been a kit that was cold blued at home. But the stock is in good shape (nothing that a refinish job couldn't fix. And the lock is working great. Question is, the tag on it says $200 and he is usually pretty firm on his prices. Do you guys think it worth it? Oh yeah, its a flintlock model.
I keep tossing this one back and forth. |
$200.00 for a Flintlock model.. it might be worth that.

Well here is my plan if I decide to buy it. I will send the barrel out and have it bored out to .54 cal and a 1:70 twist put in it. Then, when it comes back have the smith blue it. In the mean time I can finish the stock. But then I would have about $350 into it. I may just hold out for a Lyman GPR in .54.

Bronko, I would pay $200 in a flash for a flintlock Renne in that shape if the bore is good and (assuming it's a kit gun) the inletting and fit of the metal parts is good. A scratched and dinged stock does not bother me. As you said, that's an easy fix. Worn/poor bluing would not bother me much either. You could always send it to Devil for a browning job.

here in rhode island there 150-200 for the caplocks...i would say 200 for a flintlock is worth it needing alittle work
