That Lyman looks like it might have potential. I'll have to look into that.
For the record, I'm not really looking to get into "traditional" muzzleloading. I'm looking for something different that is different and will have some advantages over what I have now.
Add to that the possibility of building one and the little bit of pride that comes from harvesting a deer with something I built.

Or just convert your Encore into smokeless and forget about cleaning.

Good gun, but keep in mind it weighs over 9lbs, and isn't very waterproof. It's a copy of an early 1800's Hawken.

Hand your Pro Hunter to a mountain man in the Hawken era, and he'd throw away that Hawken without a second thought.

I don't want to talk you out of a sidelock. I just want you to think it though.

not bad at all with 70gr RS and a limbsaver pad! The 250gr REAL shoots just as accurate.

SuperKirby, what about a T/C Firestorm? Maybe you would be interested in it. It's kinda a cross between modern and traditional.

I had looked at the firestorm, but not sure I really want to take up a flintlock at this point.
I guess I'm just not entirely sure what I want.
Chaded, maybe I should just wait and have a smokeless barrel made.
Perhaps I'll keep looking.
