Blackhorn with a Pyrodex booster in an inline.
Personally, I don't recommend it. It seemed to turn into some sort of super crud after fired. I never had as hard of a time cleaning a rifle before. As for my range report for the Electra, that will have to wait. I don't have enough time and the initial report isn't very good anyway.

i always used shockeys gold. No hard clean up.

Interesting. How large a booster charge did you use?

Pyrodex is the only sub that has all three ingredients of real BP. I guess one of them is not happy being mixed with what is basically smokeless powder.

You can put a 5 grain booster of T7 or pyrodex down first and then it fires BH209 perfectly. A great deal of Electra owners are doing this. __________________ Frontier Muzzleloading Muzzle Loading Blog I don't see that anywhere here? |
From my understand the only issue was cleaning the breech plug correct?
T7 or APP is what i see used the most. Not so much pyrodex unless i am shooting it to light off the BH209 in my sidelock. |

Correct. |
What did you use on the BP when you put it in just lube or any teflon wrap?

wonderlube isn't an anti seize. Use the silver anti seize or teflon tape.
|
It is a breech plug and nipple grease. I also have the ANTI-SEIZE STICK from CVA. It is black and is hard to clean from the plug and the inside threads of the barrel so I don't like to use it. I also remember it didn't seem to work as well as the Traditions stuff on another rifle I tried it on when using Pyrodex Pellets.

Pluckit - Go to a hardware store or auto parts store and get a can or tube of nickle based anti sieze. This stuff works as good or better than the stuff labeled for ML use. And because it's not labeled for use in a ML breech - besides getting a lot more, it cost a whole lot less. I normally made one wrap of teflon tape and then applied this stuff and never ever had a problem. I even use it alone for nipples and flash hole liners.

Slick 50 One Grease is all I use anymore.
