T/C Seneca .45 PRB Range Report
 

I just picked up a T/C Seneca in 45 cal. My day was kind of cut short due to rain, but I did manage my best 50 yard offhand target to date. The load was 70gr of FFg, .440" Hornady Round Ball, and a .015" patch lubed with Greased lightning + water. The the bullet hole far right was my 1st shot (choked:confused0024: or dirty barrel). I cleaned barrel (had just shot about 10 shots at 25 yards) and then took a 3 shots. I couldn't believe my group at 50 yards shooting offhand. My best to date 50 yard, Offhand group to date. I was shooting one ragged hole at 25 yards, but I was not expecting this at 50 yards. With all of my Green Mountain barrels I wasn't expecting my best offhand group to come with a Seneca 45 cal I just bought! I'm sure it was just a fluke, but I will take it:happy0001:

That's one heck of a good 50 yard off hand group shooter. The gods of muzzleloading must have been smiling upon you.

That is an excellent off hand group. I have been practicing off hand shooting with roundball rifles. And even at 25 yards I can't match that. Nice shooting.

I have been going out to the club and shooting offhand every other week and getting in one or two sessions. I have really improved my offhand shooting. I am far away from being competitive in a trophy shoot. Today's target was a fluke, but i do shoot one hole groups at 25 yards with all my "round ball twist" rifles. My 50 and 75 yard groups range from baseball to grapefruit size. Depending on the day. We don't want to talk about my 100 yard offhand shooting!:cry:

:hail::hail:Excellent shooting. To be honest, there are days I couldn't do that off a rest. But like you said, somedays you just shoot over your head.
