now I am looking into an kodiak pro. can't make up my mind on which one to get.
an 50cal thumbhole laminate blued
or
an 45cal SS laminate?

wanting an 45cal SS laminate thumbhole but not an option

any help on this would be helpful.

Corey Sportsmans Guide has Optimas for $264.00 I think iF it's any help I tried to put link in here but I don't know how on this iPad. I just looked in the classifieds on modern muzz and an optima mag was just posted seller will take $100 TYD hurry if interested

corey012778 02-03-2012 08:35 AM

I can look it up.

cayugad 02-03-2012 08:49 AM

Well sometimes priorities come with home ownership. I can understand why the wife might have told you no. That money might do more good in other places.

I'd get a Optima. I have both the Kodiak and Kodiak Pro, there OK but there's some things I dont like about them like the Trigger Mec is ermantly ttached to the Barrel, this makes cleaning a Hassle. But both are good shooters.
I like the Optima because it has a Bergaga Barrel.

I don't "think" it does. http://www.cva.com/rifles-opt.php But I would like to get one.

The boss told you NO!? Looks like its time to find a new job....lol Been there - heard that many times Corey. Anyway, that Wolf you got should be a good shooter. I've heard good reports about them. I just don't care for the short barrels on them. But that is just a personal opinion. Can't wait to hear some range reports - after your house work is done of course.... :)

Grouse45 02-05-2012 06:58 AM

Save your money and use the guns you got so you can go hunting.

Shoot I thought it did, I just assumed it had a Bergara Barrel, My Bad if it does'nt. That was the main selling point to getting one if I ever did.

Excellent advice. It brings to mind an old adage: "Beware of the man with only one rifle - He probably knows how to use it."

Optima/Wolf/Scout barrels are made at the Bergara plant but not marked as a true Bergara as they skip the multi honing process. I thought we talked about this in a 12 page post before?

Sorry MD, must have been while I was away from the forum through the summer.....see what I get! But DANG! I wanted an Optima with a Bergara Barrel, that would be sweet and fit a little better than the Accura even though Im used to it now. It's probably to keep the cost down and offer a offordable Mler.

The Optimas shoot just as sweet as the CVAs wearing the true Bergaras.

Landngroove 02-05-2012 06:46 PM

A man must have priorities. Whats really more important, your guns, or your wife? :happy0001:

Dang now to figure out what Im gonna spend all this M$NEY on that I just WON on the Super Bowl....WAY TO GO GIANTS! a MLer or a New PUPPY.........I think a New Puppy:happy0001:

They may not be stamped bergerra but I ran some cotton balls through my new wolf before shooting per Cayugads advice and not a fiber could be seen sticking to the rifleing in the barrel. Looked nice and smooth. Still gave it a few strokes of bore paste for good measure. Looked like a mirror inside.

corey012778 02-05-2012 09:09 PM

planning on doing an jb bore paste treatment on the barrel once I comes in. as well as an complete check on all the scope mounts and reboresight the scope.
