Knight plunger
 

Anyone know where I can get one that will fit an mk-85 for a reasonable price? I need a standard blued one for #11 caps. Maybe someone here upgraded and has one they can cut loose?

Also, are all the plungers basically the same...or are they different by gun model?

Some of the older 54's are a bigger diameter. What part of your plunger is messed up?

WV, the plungers made for 209 primers have a cone milled into the striker end to properly dent the primer. Knight sells the 209 conversions (plastic jacket and bare 209) on their website. I don't know if the still have regular cap versions, but it might be worth a call or email to the factory to find out.

Did some horse trading and picked up a blued gun...the outside of the part that screws the whole assembly into the barrel is all marred up.The hammer/plunger works fine, just looks really bad. Rest of gun is excellent cond.

The plunger is the same part that fits in my SS .50, except blued. I just tried it.

Hoping someone has one laying around where they converted to 209's...they might want to unload.

Also, does anyone know how to take the plunger assembly apart? Apparently it does come apart, Knight offers parts to the assembly - so that is an option also, I just have no clue how to disassemble. :confused0024:

Yes I can get one, but they are too expensive to purchase new. I could almost buy another gun for what they want for it. thx

I have taken mine apart lots of times. The very end cap has a teeny screw in it and that is loctited in. I use a heat gun to heat things up good before removing that. Then it just comes right apart. If there is just the one part that is marred up you can just replace that part, I've done that on a couple used guns I have purchased.

Mine doesn't have that screw. ??? (my newer knight does, but my old mk's don't) This one is probably from the early 90's.

Any suggestions?

The screw is part of that end knob. If you need pics let me know.

Parts according to Knight's terminology:
Hammer, End Cap, Secondary Safety, Hammer Screw.
Spring is missing in this picture of a disassembled hammer assembly.
I talked to Sam at Knight a few years ago when I disassembled one for the first time. He was the one who advised me to use some heat and be very careful not to twist that leetle screw off.
You can see how this End Cap is marred from some jass ack putting an unpadded pliars on there.
