I won the IL PRB bench shoot in 1078 with a modified wood ironing board and I still use it when I shoot on my hunting property [ we have one built out of 4x4 and planks on the rifle range].

I use high tech pantleg sandbags on top of an engineered cinder block. All of which rest on a superbly crafted 3ft folding table.:)

That's a nice pair of spotting binoculars too.

Kiss program:
wood surfaced ironing board cut V in the small end to hold gun for loading, Use a portable hunting stool, use a simple standard forearm rest, two sand bags to brace under the gun but. It works as good as it is cheap and simple. Do not try to use one of the new metal Ironing boards my friend did and that are not stable that wobble like some of the people I see shooting off hand. |
Semisane, I really like the looks of that bench. Portable and I could do it in an afternoon. Is it sturdy when assembled or does it have some wobble? Thanks to everyone who posted. Got some great ideas. Home Depot sells the fold up table legs if i go that route but I really like that knock down bench.

I have no idea how solid it is HDMontana. But it looks as though it should be good.
I've never built one because we have two very solid permanent benches on our hunting lease range. I ran across those plans two or three years ago and saved the pictures to my PC because I thought it was neat, and I may have need to build one some day. But I just haven't had the need yet. |
Thanks, if I build one I'll post it and let everyone know how it goes. I like the way it can break down and store along a wall in the garage.
