RE: ballistics for 50 caliber knight
The only way to know how your load combo and gun shoot at 200 yards is to actually do so. Ballistic charts and programs may get you close but I never found them to be very accurate, thus I would never suggest solely rely on them alone.

RE: ballistics for 50 caliber knight
In my Knight USAK using #11 caps I' ve found good success using 300+gr bullets - PowerBelts or PR QTs & Extremes.
I' ve found that using 80gr of 777 powder works great with 300gr sabots or Powerbelts and 90gr of 777 with 350gr sabots or 348gr PowerBelts. According to Hodgdon' s chart - these loads are approx. 1600fps at the muzzle. I' ll sight them about 2" high at 75yds - figuring I' m good out 125yds. For 200yd shots - you better be about 4" high a 100yds. But only trial & error will tell you the exact drop to expect. Personally - I limit myself to 125yds or less..........more sporting for me, plus less chance of a lost animal. |
RE: ballistics for 50 caliber knight
Here is a web site with ballastics calculator that should give up a starting point.

RE: ballistics for 50 caliber knight
according to knight, a 260 grain jacketed hollow point bullet sighted in at 100 yards will drop 11.39 inches at 200, with 3 pyrodex pellets

RE: ballistics for 50 caliber knight
Two posters on another forum shoot the 348 Powerbelt ATs and the Barnes Expander 250 grains with that rifle. They were bench-resting 3/4 to 1-1/4" groups at 100 yards.
