I'm wishing for a muzzleloader Christmas!
Gents,
My work is done for the year so I am taking some days before Christmas to relax and enjoy family time. I have been blessed to receive a nice promotion that takes effect the first of the year. Needless to say I have been thinking of treating myself to a new toy. For me that almost always means a new muzzleloader.:D So I am dreaming of Santa bringing me a Mountaineer 25th aniversary edition or if he really goes crazy, ordering me a NULA. It all makes me realize how blessed I am . Fellas, I read a lot of posts here and feel like I have grown to know some of you quite well. I think I can fairly say that we are all blessed. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and I hope each of you knows the joyous gift that is the birth or our Savior. |
May your visions of mountaineers dance in your head. I hope Santa is good to you. And your right.. we are blessed and we should not forget that. Merry Christmas to all of you on the forum and your families. May it be a joyous and safe Christmas for all.

Ditto. Merry Christmas.

I look forward to the report. I had a quick look at the design. I bet it will be accurate as heck. I have been seeing a lot of info here about 200gr. .40 call bullets in the 45 ML's. I bet it will be a sweet shooter. BTW, I love those DNZ mounts. I have been using Williams Streamlines on all my rifles for years. I always wondered why they never did a one piece base. DNZ did a nice job with it. I see the Knight offers a single piece Talley ring of similiar design. I will probably go that route for the Mountaineer. Like you said, that will probably have to wait a while for more funding!!! It will be open sights for a while.
|
Ooops! I just took another quick look at the Knight webpage. The Talley one piece mount is for the KP1 and not the Mountaineer. It looks like I will stay with the Williams sights.

As I mentioned, I have used the Williams Streamlines on all my rifles. They allowed me to mount a short 4x scope on my model 70 because the front mount is extended. I have to tell you they look great on that rifle. They also work great in that they have never lost their zero in 18 years. The Williams shop is about 45 minutes from my house. Oddly enough you can buy them cheaper on the web, but for a few bucks more, plus a discussion with a knowledgeable person in person, I often shop there. Keep the money local when possible!
