300g XTP MAG
 

This morning i set out 6 one gallon milk jugs filled with water at about 45 feet away from rifle. The rifle was loaded with 300g XTP MAG bullet in the provided sabot. Primer was W209, and powder was 105g BH209. The bullet penetrated all 6 jug, and was found at the bottom of the last jug. There were pieces of bullet in just about every jug. The bullet and all the found pieces weigh 237.6g.

Impressive... I think the non-mags work better on deer though.

Fun test. I've killed A LOT of deer with that bullet.

How much does the core and jacket weigh without the pieces?

Thats all i've used so far in my inline muzzleloader. 2 antelope, 4 deer, and 1 elk are dead because of the 300 grain XTP Mag. Most of the time they hold up. The elk I shot was a high shoulder shot then deflected to the spine then down through the lungs. When the XTP Mag hit the spine it separated the lead and jacket causing the jacket to wedge in the spine and the lead down through the lungs. I'm sure the Speer DC is a better bullet in the bonded category but even when the XTP Mag separates it still kills. Probably wont change from it.

I have been using that bullet on deer for the last several years. It groups well, and does a geat job on penetration. I haven't found one yet, so I can't comment on retained weight.
