We use those stick-in-the-ground political signs that politicians put on roadsides and lawns every election cycle - the kind with wire frames with a corrugated plastic sign on top. We use clothes pins to secure the target paper to the sign. I collect a good supply every election cycle. On our club's rifle range we have one or two of those signs at various distances from the bench (25, 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 yards).

My neighbour is in real estate. I got a couple of the open house A frames from him and a bunch of his old signs for backers. Scotch tape and a target and a way I go.

Where I shoot a bunch of other's do as well. The garbage they leave is disscusting. Me I set my A-frame up. Do my shooting. Police my brass or patches/sabots and go home. No one would know I was there.

Pack it in pack it out.:hit:

I made a self supporting stand of out 3/4 PVC pipe. It will stand in the wind, and hold a nice chunk of cardboard. Plus it comes apart for easy transport.

The one mistake I made was I had it too close to the steel bullet trap. As you can see it got hit by some ricochet bullets. But a little duct tape and it is all back and running. You can make them up to four feet tall. And they stand real well on almost any ground.

I use a piece of Styrofoam SM screwed to an old wooden step ladder. Paper targets are held place by pins or nails, pushed into the styrofoam.

I also use a real estate sign. When the ground isn't frozen they work great. I also use a home made one with 2x4s.

The legs are 3/4" tube steel. The back leg is 40" long, and the front leg is the remnant from a 6' piece--32". The cross pieces are 5/16" all thread made by cutting a 4' piece in half, and spaced 2' apart. Not my design, but i sure have used it a lot, and it is readily repaired using material purchased at our local hardware store.
