That's tough. As much work as you've probably put into the gun, I wouldn't get rid of it. Just do some .50 cal squirrel hunting to gain some confidence in the gun.

I have experienced that "No Confidence" (many times with scopes) when that happens it is off to the range, with a rest, this is where I either get my confidence back, or something gets replaced, Range + Rest = truth, You would be surprised how fast one's confidence will return after a session at the range. I find out that sometimes (many times) I am not as good as I think I am.

This probably does not have to be said, but If I do run into faulty equipment, I will not pass it off to some unsuspecting person, if it is under warranty, it goes back, if not, well, I just eat the loss, I don't think anyone here would do something like that, but I do know some people would. I shoot the gun off a rest at 100 yards and it groups good. Not great, but plenty good for hunting. My Knight Revolution, which I should have used, will put bullets touching at 100 yds. I just plain rushed the shot. I do believe that confidence is part of it though. I just need to shoot it more at the range to really get the feel for it.

ADV, what distance is the gun sighted in for? I remember when I first started hunting (20+ yrs) and had a scope for the first time. I sighted it for 150 yards, and the deer was at 30 yards, well I missed big time and thought the gun was bad etc. I did not realize until a few years later that I had to actually aim lower at closer distances in order to compensate for bullet trajectory which was all new to me. Did you put the crosshairs on the coyote at that close range? I certainly did thinking this is too easy and the bullet went over the top of the deer and hit a tree well beyond the line of fire. At that close range I needed to put the hairs on and then lower it so I would hit the deer. Well I did not know that and missed big. I know this is trivial but when the moment arises it is so easy to forget. Just my 2 cents, I think your gun is fine. Check the scope, clamps etc. I have since went back to open fiber optic sites on all my muzzys as the distances are within 50 yards. Good Luck.
