UPS delivered mine today! I ordered one last week to try out in my thumbhole Optima and after greasing it up and seating it with the tool and shooting it a few times, everything looked perfect. Again, zero crud ring with the American Pioneer 3f powder with Winchester W209 primers.:barmy: Can't wait to see how much i have to adjust my scope when the BH209 arrives.

Very cleanly machined as well. No blow back but my head space is adjusted tight for W209 primers at the moment. I think the CCI 209 Mags will need just a tiny bit of adjustment.

Seating with what tool ?

Any time you get a new QRBP they include a tool that you use to wrench down on it and form the face of the BP to your barrel. Dont worry, i'll get pics LOL.

We are looking forward to your reporting of how many thousands and thousands of shots you make through that plug with zero erosion of the flash hole. By the by, have you a clue what the diameter of the flash hole was before you began shooting them thousands and thousands of shots?

right at .028 to .029" Going to check this one here in just a bit.

$100 says it will erode to 0.030" before you shoot 100 shots through it.

.029" flash hole on the new BH209 plug. Not sure yet if i will open the flash channel to 5/32" or not. Figured i'd shoot it a whole on the range and see how things go first.

$100 says i'll still be shooting the BH209 plug one year from now with no accuracy issues while you've gone through 30 or 40 vent liners :P

It seems that is an example of them 'deflection' you are known for.




Oh, by the by, in case you didn't realize it, them ventliner of mine wear about the same as an OEM breech plug. The reason i know this is because i actually shoot my rifles so i can actually 'measure' breech plug/ventliner erosion. It may be that some writers sit at their typewriter, imagine the rate at which their breech plugs erode, then type.

Did you know that 40 of my ventliner cost me $14? Pretty cool huh?

It is heat and burnt residue that wear breech plug flash hole. One thing that is true about this part of SD, there are tools available to measure things such as flash hole diameter.

Willingly or not, you will learn that flash holes erode. You will learn that breech plugs are not able to provide thousands of shots without showing wear. When you wrote that your plugs are good for thousands and thousands of shots, you were either wrong, or you...................................never mind.





Bye the bye, the weather in SD is usually quite good for shooting rifles.

I know i have well over 100 shots in my new Optima and its factory flash hole is still at .029"

Shot some more today but was having issues with the W209 just puking blowby. Switched to cci 209 magnum primers and my accuracy improved, no blowby and zero crud ring as well which really surprised me. I put the BH209 plug in my open sight Optima as thats my main hunting horse and i wont be doing any out of state hunts next year.

You need to come up with a more precise way of measuring.
