triumph, 209 or 209m with bh209
refreash my memory, should i use the reg win209 or a cci209m or fed209m? the reason i ask is i had 3 hangfires the other day with reg win209.
i may have been due to a dirty plug. i was using what i thought was the same load as last year but my groups were no where near as good. it got me trying different bullets. i had been using 120gr of bh209 and 250gr barnes tez. what would make a difference in my accuracy? dirty plug? worn out plug? how would you tell if the plug is worn, approx how many shots in the lifespan of a plug? |
I use the fed209a primer in my triumph and have never had a hangfire.

Use a 1/8 drill to clean out the flash channel from the primer seat to the touch hole do it by hand and do not cut any metal just get the carbon out this should be done every 12 shots and when you clean the gun.

As mentioned, you should use a 1/8" drill spun by hand to remove carbon from the flash channel of the breech plug. A plugged flash channel may be what caused your issues. Just so you know, i have always used W209 primer in my Triumph. They always worked perfectly, until one day, when it was a way below zero. That morning i noticed an almost imperceptible delay.
