Mossy Oak or Realtree

Ok Guys lets see what's the Best Camo in Your Opinion.
Im a Mossy Oak Guy, I Buy Mossy Oak whenever I can, I just Love It, I wont get into ALL the Different Patterns for each one as there's so many, but wich do you prefer?
It just Kills Me when I find a Pair of Rubber Insulated Boots and Gore Tex Pants that fit Me when the only style they offer is Real Tree ( SORRY Bill Jordan) You make a Great Camo but I Like Mossy Oak.
I know it should'nt matter but even though Im a Mossy Oak Man I had to Buy a Pair of Gore Tex Hunting Pants that were in My size and they were RealTree (Advantage Timber) the Mossy Oaks ones just would'nt fit. My Rubber Insulated 2000gr Thinsulate Boots are also Realtree (APHD), again the only one's in My Size. But what really takes the Cake is My CVA ACCURA's Stock is also Camoed in Realtree (APG). Everything else I Buy is Mossy Oak and it just makes Me Mad that I cant be all 100% Mossy Oak. Is Real Tree the Preferred Camo??? either way Im still a Mossy Oak Man.
What's You're Favorite Camo?

lemoyne 11-25-2011 05:58 PM

As far as the animals are concerned I don't believe it makes any difference.
When I am hunting trespassers or poachers I prefer Mossy Oak, it blends better in tis part of the country when colored vision is involved.

I agree with You Lee on tha part that the Animals cant tell the Difference as I can be on the ground and be within feet of Turkeys and Deer and as long as I dont move they wont see me reguardless of what Im wearing, and it's even if Im wearing Blaze Orange or a Business Suit. But to just be outfitted in a Camo, Mossy Oak just looks Better.

bronko22000 11-25-2011 06:19 PM

Lee, what's the limit on trespassers and poachers in your neck of the woods? :)
For deer I don't think camo is as critical as it is for turkey. Something that breaks up your outline and is not overly contrasting is good enough. ASAT camo is ugly but very effective, as is Predator camo.
Lately, for treestand hunting I prefer Mossy Oak Treestand (works well on the ground too when the trees are light colored (white oak, black birch, etc). On the ground in darker timber I like Realtree All Purpose.

wabi 11-25-2011 06:27 PM

Voted other as I seldom wear camo. I usually hunt with just the same dark colored clothing (dark brown/green/gray) I work in. Most of my deer hunting is in archery season and most of the deer I kill are under 20 yards.

For turkey hunting it's a different story, though. For that I wear black and sit inside a pop-up blind with the black interior.

Big Z 11-25-2011 06:43 PM

I prefer the look of realtree as far as the green stuff goes. But anything open-country sagebrush style is my top choice... it sends a message to all the green-camo guys :D

MountainDevil54 11-25-2011 06:50 PM

doesnt really matter to me but i just think realtree has a nicer pattern.

Muley Hunter 11-25-2011 06:55 PM

An old beat up red and black plaid coat/jacket works just as good, and you don't look like rambo.

ASAT or Predator only - they break up the human form to an animal.
The others just become a form revealing blob starting about 25 yds away.
They work best at fooling a hunter into buying them.:s2:

Nothing if you're going to war.

Hunting isn't war, and camo patterns were made to fool humans. Millions of animals have been killed without camo. All of a sudden we can't hunt without camo?

Wasn't this pretty much already covered here?

Or is this thread just about fashion??

Exactly right.

onetohunt 11-26-2011 07:07 AM

What's realtree?????

johnnyo 11-26-2011 07:24 AM

The good hunting gear that I buy (light weight rain suits, quiet materials) just happen to have camo on them.

Opposite of fake tree.:p

Now that i've busted some chops. I have to confess to wearing camo. Not so much for the pattern, but the materials used.

If someone would make modern materials with an old school plaid pattern. I'd be all over it.

Thats exactly it, all funtional clothing for hunting comes in camo. now we have to pay more for it so, the camo companies can collect their fees for allowing the clothing companies to use their pattern.

Buckhunter46755 11-27-2011 09:28 AM

What camo I own is mostly realtree. But I don't wear it everytime I hunt.

Yep, and in that thread the camo that people liked best was oft discussed. Clearly for you, camo is about one’s sense of fashion and not what is really “best.” Funny! Or is this really BP's wife posting here??

It's all a Gimick to make all of those guys you watch on TV Hunt them 800,000 Acre Farms and take them BIG BUCK's Richer and be able to Buy More Farms and Take More Big Bucks while they all Laugh at you while there Cashing in on Your Money so they can Buy More Hunting Properties that NOBODY Get's to Hunt execpt them, and you see them Taking theese Big Bucks because you think they have an edge because they use that (Product) or (Camo)

I thought the pink was a nice touch.

slowr1der 11-28-2011 01:50 PM

Honestly, I buy whichever is on sale. If I need a new pair of gloves, coveralls, etc, I look for sale prices more than which pattern they are. I like them all.

Muley Hunter 11-28-2011 02:01 PM

The original camo. No shortage of deer taken.:p

MountainDevil54 11-28-2011 08:01 PM

LOL awesome hat BP! Years ago i almost bought a wolverine cap like that. Just didnt feel like spending the $300 it went for.

All? I haven't bought a single piece of hunting clothing in camo in ~20 years. My kids did buy me redhead camo gloves when my blaze orange pair wore out.

I wear upland bib overalls for everything, including turkeys.
