I shot a doe on veterans day and there was blood all over where I shot her. I spined her and the area was just covered in blood. The next day, the deer had still come into my feeder and didn't seem to care at all that thier little buddy had died there.

I do it back at farm. Only minutes away. We have made a v shaped rack and we roll whole deer from ATV to rack and dress deer while standing up. Makes it easy. The hanging rack and refer are all in same place. I hate hearing the crows if they are on gut pile. We have a pit and lime handy and bury waste.

I gut where they drop, less to drag. as far as yote's go, I shot a yote one morning early and within an hour i shot a 140" 8point while sniffing the yote, he fell right on top of him. don't think any of it bothers them. but to each their own, however you do it is right to you and all that matters.

I may clean the deer where it is or I may move it. A few days ago and because I took a doe almost at the end of the day - I moved her to the road side so I had car lights to clean.

Gutting deer has never ruined a hunting area for me. In fact I have seen bucks walk my deer drag out trail at times.

One side note though. When I gut a deer it is in a descreet spot - not right out in plain sight for all to find.

JW, in my neck of the woods, they would have to find them quick. they are usually gone within hours and if at night, they are gone before daylight.

They get gutted where they lay. I've had deer come through on the very same trail and walk right beside a gut pile on the same day the first deer was shot. This has happened several times so I don't think they care.

I gut the deer where they fall if the terrain is friendly. I have moved them a short distance for instance to get them out of water for instance, or head up on a hill to assist in a cleaner gut job. I never saw the gut pile cause other deer to panic. In fact just the opposite. I'd shot a doe (we had to before we could shoot a buck) and gutted her. Pulled her maybe fifteen yards from the gut pile to where I could keep an eye on her. About an hour later a buck came in, scenting the air. At first I was kind of panicked because I figured.. it will smell the blood and leave. Nope. it walked right to where the gut pile was, took a good nose hit of it, and I dropped him right next to the gut pile.
