Am I going to have problems?
So last weekend after hunting, I unloaded what I thought was all of my muzzle loading stuff from the car, but didn't have time to put it all away. Well, I didn't think anything of it until I went to hunt this past week, and I noticed that I'd left a brand new box of Pyrodex pellets in the trunk as well as my #11 caps. So, they sat in there for 6 days and nights. It was on average 60-70 in the days, and in the 20's-30's in the nights. It also rained a few days, so while this stuff didn't get wet, there was moisture in the air.
I hate to have wasted a brand new box of pellets, and caps, but am wondering, will I have ignition problems with them since they were in these temperatures for nearly a week, or should they be fine? I can't help but think they probably sat in a warehouse in similar conditions for a while before shipping, but I don't know that for sure. |
Your caps and powder will be fine.

if the box was closed and dry it should be fine. The caps are fine I am almost 100% positive.

Thanks guys, the box was closed although even closed it doesn't look like its sealed up too well. They didn't get wet or anything, just went from cold at night to warm back in the evenings to cold for several days in a row.

Don't think you will have any problems. Got a friend whos' dad had a stroke last December. He forgot to tell anyone that his Omega was loaded and in the safe in the basement. My friend took the Omega to the range the week before BP season opened and fired the round. Rifle fired to zero and so did the speed loads.

Just think what the caps and Powder go through while there inside your Barrle while your Hunting in different Weather and Temps, they'll be fine unless your Driving a Winter Beater with Holes in the Trunk and a Leaky Deck Lid Rubber.

I agree with all the above. Your good to go!

Elk pellets lay on the ground forever. They do fine. :)
