The Impact left a mark...

Opening day, just trying to stock the freezer. After 2.5 hours I passed on 3 does. Still not sure why, buy I'm glad I did!!
He came out 30 yds away, hot after a doe. Grunting didn't faze him, even a yelp didn't turn his head. He only stopped when the doe he was chasing did. Shot was at 75 yds as he tried mounting her. And of course the particulars: T/C Impact-250gr SST-100gr Pyro Pellet-777 Primer I will try to get entry/exit pics tomorrow. |
Nice deer and nice shooting congrats

Congrats, but as Semisane noted, just as he was about to get some?
Not cool, dude! :barmy: |
Congratulations on a nice buck.

Congrats. You are using the same bullet, powder and primer I am so it would be nice to hear what you think about their performance. I got a clean pass through at 61 yards on my buck last Saturday. I posted a thread about the 250 gr SST and got some not so positive comments so let me know what you think about them.

here's the entry/exit pics. Still waiting to get a pic from my brother; he caught one on his trail-cam while the velvet was still on.
As far as the SST's: I think they are effective to 200 yds. I am sure there are other bullets that have better terminal ballistics. They may hold together better and provide a more consistent wound channel. I doubt anything could shoot more accurately in my gun I have tried FPB's, and they are as consistent as the SST's. I have not tried any other bullets yet, but may try Shockwave's or Barnes next spring. As you can see on the pics, the SST opened up pretty quick, but it still passed through. My emphasis has always been on accuracy first, then terminal performance. If I find a bonded or all copper bullet that is as accurate I may use it in the future. If nothing else shoots as well I will stick with the SST's. |
