The weekend hunt

Well it kind of started out friday after lunch. I had went down to the bay to hang a climber and while driving out a small 8pt chase a doe across the gravel in front of me. I thought this is great, right time of the year and bucks are chasing. Sat morning I saw one doe and elected to pass on her. Sat till 10:45 and didnt see anymore.

Back for the afternoon hunt at 2:00 and sat till dark and didnt see a thang. My wife and daughter was hunting up in the hills and she shot a nice fat doe that afternoon. I had me a skinning job when she got home. She was using her 30-06. The wind was terrible saturday. 20-30 mph.

Sunday morning I climbed up my climbing stand and the wind was howling something awful, gusts over 40 mph. Its good that I dont get motion sickness or it would have been bad. I saw one little bambi right after daylight. It looked like that youngin was having a hard time staying on its feet with the wind. Didnt see anything else the rest of the morning.

The afternoon hunt wasnt much better saw one youngin just before dark and nothing else. It would have been nice if that ole sad daddy would have stepped out, but it just wasnt meant to be I reckon. I will just have to settle on trying to get him with my bow. At least the wife got her one.

oh well, sometimes you're the bug, and sometimes you're the windshield! That's why they call it hunting.

Not every hunt brings home meat, but they all bring home memories. Sounds like a nice way to spend the day. Better luck during bow season.

Too much wind is a real booger Greg. All the cracking and creaking of the trees seems to make the older deer nervous and they tend to sit tight. I love a steady light wind, but hate it when it gets to roaring like that.
