Sure is. The gun was made for that load.

Not a problem at all mossback. I've shot pretty stiff loads of P in several of my sidelocks with no issues. A disc extreme is built like a tank.

When switching to a finer powder, for example from Pyrodex RS to P, there is a very slight increase in pressure in the ignition. Nothing to really concern yourself in these modern inline rifles. You might achieve a 100-200 fps increase in velocity and again a slight pressure spike, but it is safe. The real question you need to ask yourself is.. do I need that little extra. Granted the finer powder burn cleaner. Not a lot cleaner, but cleaner. They are also said to ignite easier, but with 209 primers you'd never notice the difference without some sophisticated testing equipment. I personally like 2f in my rifles better then 3f. But ... go where the accuracy is.

Most guns are rated for a "maximum" charge, either 150 or 100 grains of powder. I shoot 100 gr of Pyrodex RS loose powder. If I were to switch to P, I would use 90 gr to get about the same performance, but 100 gr of P would still be safe.

Work up an accurate load, and hunt, whether you end up at 80, 90, 100 or whatever. Just don't exceed the recommended max load.

Pyrodex P is still weaker than BH 209.

You did not say how much you plan on using? If you are going to shoot 150 grains of it then hell no. Back it down a bit as the pressures do increase a bit as the fellas said. Most of us stay around 100-100 grains of powder and we all take deer with that amount of powder. Work up your sweet spot and you will probably be in that range.
