I was at Gander Mountain yesterday. They had a CVA stainless Optima with shooters kit for $289.00. It was on a cardboard back so I could not really examine it, but it looked nice.
Mountain Devil 54 has a lot of experience with CVA rifles. He seems to be able to make them shoot real well. And he hunts with them. So they do work for him. I am not sure if that is a good price, but it sounds ok to me.

If you're going to use a scope. You'll be happier with the thumbhole stock. It's higher and designed to use with a scope only.
I'm not fond of the looks of a TH stock, but I like a nice cheek weld when looking through a scope. So, I went with it. Maybe the looks will grow on me after awhile.

I hate to keep showing this as you guys might think I'm pushing CVA when I actually own a Knight...At any rate, I had a buddy that bought the stainless barrel, with the camo, thumbhole stock
from WalMart for $287...He also bought a Nikon ProStaff scope...I mounted and worked up a load, this is what I ended up with...I used 300gr Hornady .430 XTPs, 80grs of FFF Goex and a Harvester plain green sabot...
I would also get the thumbhole stock, I didn't like it until I shot it...
Your hand absorbs a ton of recoil...I actually got it fairly close with 80grs of Goex and the 240gr Hornadys before switching to the 300s...That load had very little felt recoil...

Please be careful when you post targets like that, shot with a rifle with a price like that, that I know is a good rifle with a pretty nice trigger. Weak men with no need for another muzzle loader are too easily tempted by such posts.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter, pluckit.
