Thats a nice bullet. You do a fine casting job.

My shoulder started to hurt just looking at that bullet.

that mold is an lee c501-440 rf, same one idahoron is using on his 50cal full bore paper patched bullets. already pmed him on another site about the custom sizer he uses with them.

muley don't worry, I use an double recoil pad set up on two rifles. I am thinking about trying them out of my 50cal sidelocks most have brass butt stocks lol

Corey, i was going to say that looked like the bullet idaho Ron uses lol. it was designed for the 500 S&W. i shoot a 460 gr bullet over 75 gr pyrodex and it kicks a lot less than a 300 gr bullet over 110 gr Bh209.

figuring an light charge would work. I don't go over 90grs of any type of powder anyway. that is an personal thing.

Nice looking bullets Corey.

You are going to like that one I think depending on you barrel. That mould is the same as mine. Every mold is different but with that weight I am going to bet your lead is harder than 8 BHN. Mine will throw a 460 with pure 5 BHN. 458 gr at 6 to 7 BHN. My rifle loves these bullets at 6 to 7 BHN with 80 gr of pyrodex P and a over powder wad. What also gives me the idea that your lead is harder is the .502 dia. Mine will throw at .501 with soft lead but again every mould is different.
My custom sizer is a .446 for my 45. I use the standard .501 sizer from lee for this load. I wrap them with paper and size dry to .501 and they are ready to shoot. If your lead is not soft enough the bullets will be very hard to get down the barrel. They will also strip the paper off when you size them. Your paper thickness will also come into play when your sizing and loading. Paper that is too thick will be very tough to get down.
When I am loading mine are snug going down. I bump them and when it starts to head down the pipe I keep it going until it seats with one stroke.
We need to check the hardness of your lead. Ron

I am going to add that to be honest I don't think the recoil is bad at all. My son has been shooting that load since he was about 14 and he has done well with it. Ron
