drill bit to make an shaft for an ramrod
does anyone know where i can find an long drill bit 1/4" to 3/4" to drill to make an ramrod shaft. can't be to pricey
|
I made mine. square the end of a drill and a drill shaft then cut a 45degree angle on the ends put them end to end in a piece of strait polished angle clamp and tack weld opposite sides then right angle to opposite side the fill gaps with weld and turn while grinding. It would be easier to buy them but I could not find any long shaft drill with a long enough shaft when I started building muzzle loaders in 1973.

problem with that plan lee
only person I know who welds is in Fl. it is an good idea. |
Make you one...You don't have to have a drill bit to drill a hole in wood...Go to Lowes and look at at tile bit, then get a piece of 3/8 stock metal and fashion a bit on the end...

found an drill bit at lowes when i went to check if they had an still rod that would work. only 3/8 rod they had was threaded.
the bits are 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 1/2 x 18" sounds like i may be a little short won't be 100% until i do another length measurement. |
