started the custom stock for my win apex

pulled out my cheap router and started the ruff work on my custom stock. every thing was going alright until it kicked on my twice and the router stopped working. but I did get somethings done.

I got my point of no return marks cut (from where an stock turns in to fire wood). and my action and part of my barrel channel ruffed out.

I am going to take the router apart and see if i can fix it. I am going to also drill out the action area and hand file and sand it to the diminutions it needs to be. the barrel channels is going to be the challenge. still have not figured out how I was going to do the ramrod area. looks like i have to find an long drill bite and an jig system

the action is cut out of the stock. small mistakes. nothing that can't fix when I shape the stock. I was a little off center, my dad has an planer so we will can fix that. about 3 to 4 hours of chisel work and rasp work. just have hand sanding to do I think that part will be down but for cutting the breech area out.

i also fixed my router, one of the screws that attach the power switch to the power came loose. i fixed it in less time then it took to get the house apart.

good start, just take your time and if you dont have the tool, put it off to the side until you can get the right tools to finish it. The Apex stock inlet will be pretty simple. You got most of it done as it is LOL.

why I choose that one for first stock. if I ever find an deal on an blank like that one I may try an sidelock. right lol

missed that part the first time I saw your post

felt like it,

good thing I knew how much wood was going to come off the stock at finishing. the extra few inches in front of the action area is for the lugs.

I only went over .200" in the action area, room for the stock the swell
