209 vs no.11 bullet impact help!!!!!!
 

Hope someone can help me!
Just got a older traditions lighting bolt action muzzleloader and it has a no.ll ignition system, i want to put the 209 conversion kit in it but i am concerned that once i do the convertion, my zero will change and i will be forced to rezero my gun.
Normally not a big deal just time restaints not allowing me lots of time to shoot.

currenty the gun is hitting 1.5" high at 100yrds.

If you do not have time to rezero, why do you want to do the conversion so badly?

BTW, I would never make a change like that without being able to verify zero before going out into the field.

It will probably change a bit. What powder are you using?

The #11 cap could be more accurate.

100gr pyrodex pellets with 245gr sabots.
I want to change because i just picked this gun up 2 nights ago because my old buckhunter was worn out, it had the 209 convertion kit in it, and i want this one also to use 209's.
I had lots of issue's with #11's years ago with moisture because this time of year we get lots of s@*t weather up here, and i only get a 10 season so i don't want any misfires.

I would say either stay with the #11 or else you best get out there shooting a bunch before season.

Were you were using #11 caps with pellets? That's not a good combination.

The ones I have seen this done to it did change a bit, you need to shoot it to see how yours reacts...

thanks, thats what i was looking for, with the convertion it will be close, allowing me too do minimual adjusting to rezero.

That's what I said. I'd also use mild 209 primers. The ones made for muzzleloaders. They will shoot better with Pyrodex.

I would also go to powder. Elk and deer crap pellets. Guns should shoot powder. It works better.
