Fresh Supply

I can mark one more thing off the list of things I need for the start of muzzle loader season next week. I just got my years supply in the mail today.

MountainDevil54 10-14-2011 09:39 AM

what you gonna use that fer? Perfume?

pluckit 10-14-2011 09:43 AM

I use to put it on my clothes kinda like perfume. But my hunting pardners complained too much when they got in the truck with me. So now I just spray it on the tree around me.

MountainDevil54 10-14-2011 09:45 AM

yeah good idea! Dont want the friends thinking your wife gave you a golden shower that morning LOL.

Semisane 10-14-2011 09:45 AM

I just pee on the base of the tree before I go up.

pluckit 10-14-2011 10:16 AM

Nuh uh! You just throw your depends down at the base of the tree after you've soiled it :poke:

Yeah man, I pee all over the place while hunting. Deer don't seem to mind human pee. When you put on racoon pee, I have a feeling that the deer just smells you plus piss.

cayugad 10-14-2011 12:43 PM

This might surprise some, but I set up over a buck scrape once, and just because a friend claimed to urinate in buck scrapes, and for laughs.. urinated in it. I climbed in the tree and later that afternoon a small eight pointer came in and he had a fit over what I did. He pawed it all up and re-freshened it. Then he died.

bronko22000 10-14-2011 12:47 PM

I've read articles where guys have actually watch buck sniff where the hunter had taken a leak and started making a scrape there. I think deer just get nervous from our BO.

Now let that be a lesson to you all. Don't pi$$ Cayugad off!

I do it all the time in the scraps they do not no if its human are not just a male have your wife put some in a bottle and put some on a scrap he will be back looking for her make sure it that time of the mouth

chaded 10-14-2011 03:36 PM

I believe pee is pee to deer. Not sure if they can tell what pee came from what. I may be wrong as I never talked to a deer to get there take on it lol.

a1smokepole 10-14-2011 03:53 PM

Ive never sat down and talked to one but it works deer come into heat and bleed its the blood in the pee they smail

Muley Hunter 10-14-2011 04:24 PM

Deer are smarter here. They know a tree shouldn't smell like a raccoon.

liquidorange 10-14-2011 05:22 PM

one morning i climbed into my ladder stand years ago in the dark only to put my hands in racoon poo. i think i had enough cover scent that day.

Muley Hunter 10-14-2011 07:46 PM

You tree squirrels have more problems than I thought.

The worse I can do is step on raccoon poop.

sqezer 10-14-2011 08:06 PM

muley, how does a coon get up a tree without leaving his scent. Flying coons?

Muley Hunter 10-14-2011 08:16 PM

That's it. Flying raccoon's.

IMO: Many hunters take scent control to extreme. i've had deer walk under my stand and never become alarmed.

Yesterday my hog hunting buddy and myself spent about an hour renovating a feeder and placing a game camera; there was human scent all over the place. Watched the feeder last evening hoping the hogs would come in. Deer came in instead, one old doe was wary; but finally she relented and ate corn with the rest.

Totally agree with you!!
Seems that if you watch the TV shows you want be able to get game with out soaking your self in cover scent:pcwhack:

But hey its only money

Muley Hunter 10-15-2011 06:36 AM

Did Daniel Boone use Scent Off? :happy0157:

pluckit 10-15-2011 11:58 AM

Confidence. Cover scent equals confidence to me. Confidence means everything and I believe is important for success.

donjose 10-15-2011 01:07 PM

The other night one of the shows was on and the guy had put his hunting cloths in a sealed bag with scent covering on it.When he got to the stand he took all his cloths off and put the ones in the bag on,
then took the cloths he took off and put them in the bag so they could soak up the scent as well.Seems Like to much work for me!!

Remember sometimes the predator becomes the prey!!!!

Just got back from a weekend at the hunting lease, and am catching up on the last three day's threads. When I read this, I had to wonder Cayugad. Just what the heck do you drink that causes a deer to die after sniffing your pee? :D
