Anyone else notice Walmart is selling smaller packs of Powerbelts this year?

I felt bad buying Powerbelts as I don't like them, but one of the guys I hunt that lives 2.5 hours away still insists on using them. The other night he asked me to look and see if I could find any around here as Walmart in his area didn't have them in the grain he wanted. I went to Dicks to pick up some for him because they have been the best deal for the last few years. They are selling them for $18 a pack, but their packs are of 20 bullets. Walmart has been $17 in the past, but their packs only had 16 bullets in them. Why I don't know, but it makes Walmart end up being more costly than even some of the local gun shops which sell them for $20 for 20.

So after I picked him up a pack of them I decided to look the next time I was in Walmart to see if they were still the same price as last year. To my surprise they are now $18 which is the same as Dicks, but they have now cut the packs back to only include 12 bullets. Anyone know what the deal is here? It just seems really odd that the gun shops and Dicks are selling 20 packs and Walmart is selling packs with 12 in it, for the same price as the 20 pack at Dicks. It's not often that you can beat Walmarts prices on gun related stuff, but you seem to be able to on muzzle loading stuff.

That said, I don't see why anyone would pay $18 for 12 of these inferior bullets, and imo anyone that buys those things is crazy. I think my buddy is crazy for wanting me to pick some up for him for $18 for 20 bullets.

WalFart is hoping you won't notice. I hate the way they do business.

Wal Mart is one place you have to pay close attention to when you shop. And watch out for their price postings.. sometimes the wrong item is in place of the sale item and you get to the counter and get counter shock when they ring it up. Even in some of their food items.

As for any muzzleloading product, our Wal Mart did away with them. The sporting goods manager said, not enough items sell for shelf space used, and every one waits for their end of the clearance sale to come and then buys them out. So they discontunued them. Another thing they did that PO'd me was, they used to sell bulk patches pretty cheap. Well now they same bag has a Winchester name on it (like they are selling scraps of cotton T shirts.. right) and they doubled the price.

if you need powerbelts, you could come to the augusta corp near my walmart. I think the plats are around $21, AT's at 18, and hps around the same price.

Barnes bullets are confusing too. the same bullets come in 15 or 24 packs. gotta blame the manufacturers for packing them to confuse. cva makes 15 pack power belt platinums and 20 pack hollow or aero points. why the companies dont keep it simple. as if were gonna shoot less of a style bullet if it costs more. if it works i will buy it.
