CVA Wolf Roars - 250gr Thor anchors NM buck

Happened around 930am. Will report with pics once we skin the buck and take him to the butcher.

Sweet. Looking forward to the pics.

Butcher? What's that?

cayugad 09-29-2011 11:20 AM

Butcher is what some people call going out in the garage and cutting up a deer...

Congratulations on the buck.

Meat! Meat! Meat!

Congratulations. Looking forward to a full report.

Congratulations!
You should get a book and learn to do it yourself. That's how I learned. I've been butchering my own deer now for over 20 years. I even have a small grinder and make my own venison burger. They don't cost much and are worth every penny and more.

I was an meat cutter for 3 yrs, so I do my own and other butchering. I enjoy doing it and look my wife and sister give when they small the raw meat. lol

congrats

Colorado cajun, Colorado SUCKED! We saw a total of 4 deer and went home with 5 grouse. Still fun though.

My brother in law got this 2x2 muley at 100 yards with his CVA Wolf, .500" 250gr Thor, 100gr Blackhorn209, CCI 209 Magnum primer on the 6th day of the hunt.

Shot was 1/4ing away and a high shoulder shot that took out the lungs, spine and broke the opposite shoulder as the bullet came out the front of the chest. Deer dropped on the spot obviously.

Shot placement,

Ballistic tip found under the shoulder after we removed the leg!

Internal damage,

Bullet poking out front of chest,

A beautiful lookin bullet before and after! The big chunk of fatty stringy looking meat is what we had to cut out in order to get the bullet out of the deer.

Congratulations on the hunt. The bullet did it's job as well.

cayugad 10-01-2011 01:15 PM

Wow that thing really did some damage. That is the way to stop them. I am still surprised that the bullet did not pass completely through the body and disappear somewhere in the wild. But that sure shows the expansion. Great pics.

The Thor bullets really seem to be impressive. I need to pick up some to try.

It's a Barnes bullet, reworked to be used full bore.
