TC Encore PH Speed Breech/BH209 question
 

Does anyone know the inside diameter of the flash channel and flash hole of the TC Encore Pro Hunter Speed Breech? I use BH209 and their website suggests to hand turn a drill bit in the flash channel to clean out any built up fouling to maximize the performance of the BH209. The BH website says that Thompson Center breech plugs have 1/8" diameter but I can't get a 1/8" drill bit to go into the flash channel.

If you can not get a eigth inch bit, to turn in it.... it is because it is really carboned up.... when I first used a drill bit, I couldn't turn mine either, I had to put it in a drill to clean it.... all that came out was carbon build up, no metal shavings... just be careful not to drill too deep...

Follow Endevorshooter's instructions, especially the part about going slowly.

If the 1/8" does not work for you at first - go to a smaller bit and keep working out until you get to the 1/8" channel.

I had the same situation in my Triumph. Start with a smaller dia. drill bit and turn it my hand only. Work your way up to 1/8".

The first time I cleaned my Encore breech plug, it was after a hundred shots or so. I was amazed at how hard the buildup was. I started with a smaller bit and worked up in size to 1/8". Now, I leave a 1/8" bit clamped in an old vice grip and use it whenever I have the breech plug out. Takes only seconds and works like a charm.
