Before it's too late.
If it's not already. I thought it might be better to score the deer you harvest in the muzzle loader deer contest in this manner.
The does will still count as 50 points.
The bucks however, would be scored at 50 points per point on the antler. Any point that you are able to hand a ring on may be scored for 50 point.
This way we will not have to go through the task of using the Boone & Crocket scale.
What this means is, a spike buck would be worth 100 points, a fork horn 200, a 6 point 300 and so on.
Also, all scores can be easily verified by the picture of the deer.
Just an idea, what do you think?

I am going to change the rule for scoring bucks/bull elk to reflect this idea. If there is 1 person in the contest who disagrees with the rule change just PM me, if you wish to remain anonymous, and I will change it back. You must PM me before the entry deadline date.

The forum, I usually get in a contest at scores them 5 for doe and the buck is 5 plus however many points, the buck has. So, a 8 pointer would be worth 13 points and does and buttons worth 5 ea.
The score does not get as big as scoring 50 per doe but it is effective and works great.

I never got much of a response to that idea. We have 20 contestants at the moment which would work out good for teams. Of course we would have to wait until the sign up deadline has passed. And hope that the number of contestants can be divided up to make equally numbered teams. It would have to be a unanimous decision since everyone signed up for an individual contest to begin with.
