Thats pretty close I set up the bench so I can sit up strait. I you watch the best bench shooters you won't see them all hunched over like the beginners. |

Here's a technique used to protect the shoulder when shooting heavy caliber rifles like the .45-70 off the bench. Holding the buttplate firmly will also help to prevent barrel torque caused by the bullet passing through the rifling.

I raised my rest up, so I could sit more vertical.
