I joined this forum yesterday because of my interest in black powder guns but quickly realized that some few are using it mainly as a marketing venue for Knight products That is not what I came here to see so this is my first and last post. Furthermore I have always felt that the words truth and advertizing do not belong in the same sentence.

Geez! I guess we should only write about things we don't like. Would you be happier if we only wrote about things that didn't work? All the rifles i own, work quite well. I guess i can only write about them on other forum.

That was exactly what i thought to, Chet.... I am a TC guy but am glad that you and onetohunt has posted the pics and range info on the mountaineer... I enjoy drooling over a great looking rifle and hell who knows, it may get me over the louse hump, to actually buy one...

I like TC also. As matter of fact I have more tc's than anything and I have taken 2 deer over 200 yards with my Triumph. Other than my elite and now the mountaineer I have yet to find anything that will outshoots the Triumph. It's just that I like to talk about what I am playing with and at the moment that happens to be my Knights. I haven't shot my Triumph in 2 years.

If a person is passionate about this sport which includes rifles, projectiles, powders, primers, cleaners, you name it.. It only makes sense that when he/she is testing or using these items they post the results. Whether it seems they are product biased or not.


I for instance enjoy telling about my White rifles. MD of course is fond of his CVA, Grouse and Chet their Knights, Lee, and others their Thompson Centers, and why shouldn't they be. If you find something that just flat out works for you. You like the features of the item your telling about. And others on the forum might be interested in the same thing or better yet gain some knowledge or insight, well sometimes you have to appear to be product biased.

Funny thing is, most all of us own and use more then one brand of rifle. I got rifles from almost every make and model for that matter. And normally for the amusement of the forum, if I have a good day at the range with a rifle, a powder, or bullet. I will post the results. Even if only one person finds it interesting or some knowledge they can use. I see no bias in that.

Chet is now in the future going to test his 200 yard ability with his new (and every reason to be proud of) Knight Mountaineer Rifle. I am fascinated with this. Not because its a Knight but because of what he is attempting to do. I hope some CVA owners, and Thompson Center owners also test their rifles at 200 yards. Some of you try BlackHorn 209 powder, some Triple Seven powder, maybe even a Goex shooter.. that is what makes these forums so interesting.

If someone new to the forum reads about Chet and his Knights, stick around. Next week it might be me and my Lyman. Or Lee and his T/C. Or FG shooting his CVA. That is not biased, that is life. We shoot what we have and like and report it to the rest of the forum. If someone new does not like Knights.. shoot what you do own, and tell us how it does.

I been off and on for the last year, I keep getting drawn back. if there is an post I don't want to read I just do click on it. I am going to hit the range tomorrow with an knight, win apex (cva made gun) and an off brand sidelock (I beleave an traditions based gun)

I am not an fan of some brands but I read about them.

One thing I would like to add, and this is just my opinion. If all you have to say about someone elses choices in guns, powder, or projectiles is negative then I think it is best not to even mention it. You might instead start another thread on what you like to shoot and what you like about it instead of slamming another poster. I would prefer to keep things on a positive note. Again, just my opinion.
