T/C New Englander
I have a T/C New Englander 54 cal and I wanted to buy a new nipple for it but I could not find anything that stated what size I needed. So I bought a 1/4x28, and it was too big. I have tried to find anything that says what size I need but I can not find anything. Does anyone know what size nipple thread I need f[IMG]http://
or the 54 cal? I took a picture of the current nipple that fits on the left and the new 1/4x28 I bought on the right.![]() ![]() |
That's a new one on me fgdcd. I would have expected 1/4 x 28 too (and I used to have a New Englander). My Ace Hardware has a metal test plate hanging in the nuts & bolts section with both standard and metric threaded holes in it for all size bolts. If a hardware near you has one of those you can easily find the correct diameter and thread by trying your nipple in the various holes. If they don't have a test plate you have to go the the nuts section and try it it various nuts.

Try calling T/C in the morning, i am sure someone there will know.

T/C rifles take a 1/4-28 thread. Go to T/C web site and look at # 7075
that new one looks bigger to me for some reason. |
could the old be an 6-1 thread that fits the Spanish made muzzleloaders. pulled one and lined it up the threads to the pics.
does not make since. |
I got a new englander and I keep the nipples off the guns I just grab one and put it on I allways though there all the same, they've allways fit...all my guns are thompson centers

TC uses a 1/4 28 check the one you picked up it may be an oversize nipple for a gun that has been retapped. Or a 5/16 28.

looks like cva nipple on the left. maybe someone messed the threads up using the wrong one and now the 1/4-28 wont work right.
