Buffalo ball-ets
Any one shooting them or using them for hunting, I used them several years ago a took my only ML deer with them, then buffalo went out of business - looks like their back found them on Cabelas and dixie, dixie has a 270 and 245 grain version cabelas only has the 245 grain - but lists them as a small game round - looks like a good compromise between a full conical or PRB

I never have tried them. I believe your concern was with the punishing effects of the recoil from a 370 grain Maxi Ball wasn't it? If so, try to remember, after the rifle is sighted in, you will only need to shoot the deer once with that big ass piece of lead. My concern with using a 370 grain Maxi Ball was never with the recoil, but was with the drop and therefor the limited range, 70 yards or so, of that size bullet.

Yeah the recoil was a bear, sore as heck today but probably put 30-40 loads through yesterday 20-25 PRB and 15 maxi's they were accurate, but not sure if worth the beating - I know the ballets will drop em, and good reviews on both sites selling em I am interested in them and 245/270 is a good chunk as well and should be a little flatter than the maxis as well

I have a friend who hunts with a Knight LK-93 and he shoots 80 grains of Pyrodex RS and a 270 grain ball-et. They must work because he shoots a deer every year with it and so does his son. Those two never target shoot, and I offered him some XTP's to try but he turned me down flat, saying he did not need them.
I have shot the 270 in my LK rifles and they shoot real good. They are an over grown roundball but I see no reason they would not work if you place them in the right spot. I don't know if I would do extreme long range shooting with them.

There used to be a bullet maker called Black Widow bullets I think. That put a ballistic tip on what looked like a 270(?) grain hollow point Maxi Ball. I think it was their "Venom" bullet. I always wanted to try some, but I never did. I should see if they still make them.

I hunted with them for a few years in PA during the flint lock season. But I bet that was over 30 years ago. I didn't know they still made them. They are very effective on deer. Just a little bigger and better than a roundball. If they fly well for you, They are deadly. Tom.
