Primers and new ignition system
 

You guys talked me into one of the Lehigh conversions for my Knight LRH. I ordered the conversion from Knight late this afternon(Tuesday).

I have a few different types of primers. I have the Remington and the Winchester BP primers. As well as the standard Winchester 209's. From what I understand the BP primers are not suppose to be as hot as the standard Winchester 209??

Which primer is best for a load of about 100 to 120 grains of BH-209?? If I can find any(powder that is).

I have several bullets I am going to try with this powder. And I am going to order some Speer Deep Curls. It seems like alot of guys like them. And they are more affordable than some of the ridiculously priced BP specific bullets. And the 300 grain Deep Curl should give great performance for shots out to 200 yards.

Which sabot do you guys like for this bullet. The Harvester or the MMP??

I am having some fun with this. I am also going to order one of the new Leupold CDS scopes tomorrow(for my LRH) and give that a try also. Tom.

The reloading primer that gives the least blow back is normally the best choice, using the special muzzle loading primers is asking for a misfire at the wrong time.The sabot that gives me the best accuracy with the 300 gr Deep Curl is the long black Harvester or 300+. The MMP HPH 24 and the short black Harvester work reasonably well.

Any standard or magnum shotgun primers with BH, the muzzleloader primers are not hot enough. My favorite is the Remington STS primers.

I prefer the CCI 209Magnum primers.

Tom, I am using the w209a winchester primer and it works best of all for me. It seems to fit the conversion the best and cleanest. With the Lehigh you will find that you do not need the mag primers.

The .452-300 Deep Curl will work great to 200 but best of all it work well at 20 yards also.

I shoot the MMP HPH-24 sabot for all of the .452 bullets I shoot through a Knight.

In the Knights I shoot 120 grains of T7-2f or BH if you shoot the Speers with 120 of BH you will gain about 100 fps of velocity over the same amount of T7

I got the same results in all of mine and i have about 4 or 5 of them in various DISC based Knights. They are a bit tight in one of them but not too tight.
