American Pioneer Sticks
Got a question I understand the new super sticks were one stick is either 100gr or 150gr depending on the one you buy.But with the normal sticks being 50gr, when you load the single 50gr ones do they just go in one at a time on top of the other, just like the other brands pellets? Seems if you put three down the bore it would be a pretty long shot column.

I believe that you are suppose to crush the sticks once they get in the barrel. They need to be broken from what I heard. But then I would never purchase them. I would go loose first and then there is no problem with how they react. Also they like a good tight sabot fit.
I have shot a lot of APP and believe it or not, it shot pretty good. And the loose APP in a traditional rifle shot roundball real well. Easy to clean, and no swabbing. |
with the super sticks, they come in 100 and 150gr form. Use only one.

MD are you supposed to crush them? I was told when looking at them in a store that you were. But to be honest I did not trust the person behind the counter. Besides, I bought the loose stuff anyway.
|
I don't think they're supposed to be crushed. These are quotes from the APP web site.
Advanced TaperTech™ technology delivers the ultimate ignition along the SUPER STICK™ edges. Q: I want to use STICKS® or SUPER STICKS™ Compressed Charges in my muzzleloading rifle and I see that one end is smaller than the other. Which end of the stick should be loaded in the barrel first? A: The tapered shape of the STICKS® or SUPER STICKS™ Compressed Charges makes for easier loading. Load by putting in the the smaller end in first and pressing with your thumb. Load your projectile on top of that and push to the bottom of the bore using your ramrod. |
Got to crush them some. They won't work well if they are not crushed: You may even get a squib load.

three words! throw them away.then go by you some loose 777 or bh209 if your rifle will ignite it properly! Ray

The worst shooting experience I had in 50 years of shooting was with them. |
No, dont crush them and no, dont throw them away. I had really good luck when i shot them in the past. Try them and see how they do for you.

I had the regular Shockey Gold Sticks and HATED them!!!! I vowed to never use sticks again and have used T7 loose since.
