I love the T/C triumph, I like the savage, I love my ULA, and I like the white super91 tweaked by Bob Bowers (AKA super91). My favorite all time is a 45cal knight disc elite. They don't even make that one anymore.

My opinion is not for sale either. What has happened to me personally is all i can really write about.

Long ago when i first started modifying and making breech plugs, i was offered free 'stuff'. I refused these free items on principle. Then i was commissioned to do work for the same company that offered 'free' stuff. I did the work, and received payment, and things were good.

Later i received more work from said company, and the work was completed. When payment arrived it was far far far more than was agreed upon i.e. i was sent what amounted to 'free stuff'. In spite of my willingness to be 100% impartial, i find that i feel compelled not to write anything negative about the product(s) sold by this company. It is not something that i wished for, but it is there, whether i like it or not.

Getting something for free may seem a good thing, but it can affect how one evaluates products from that company from then on. This is what happened to me, and i did not want it, or ask for it, but it is there, it is there.

Laugh at my dilemma if you choose. Doubt my dilemma if you wish. I know what is in my heart and mind. Receiving free merchandise has affected me, and it cannot be undone.

Say it aint so, Ron. A honest man!!!! Ask anyone on this board that does get "free stuff" and they will tell you it does not affect their opinion what so ever..... So, what makes you tick differently? no just joking, that is very honest of you to say so and i am sure if you built parts for them.....they were a better product, afterwards!

Oh could you explain having principles to the shills of the board.....

SuperKirby 08-19-2011 05:40 AM

I guess I don't get it still. I'm sure my opinion isn't popular, but I just don't see why somebody gets ripped apart for getting free stuff. The way I see it, if a company finds a person to have enough value to them to want to pay them, through money or free items or whatever, then congratulations to that person. When I worked for service companies in the past, part of my job was to talk about how much better our service was than the competition. It only makes sense that people associated with certain companies are going to speak favorably about their supporting company. If a product development engineer for Knight or CVA or TC joined the board, I'm guessing they would be respected for their opinion and if a question came up about that product, they would be the person to ask. I don't see the difference for somebody that's helping with design or testing or whatever but is only paid through merchandise.
I guess I figure I know who has some sort of association with what company, and if I want to know about a product I know who to ask. That doesn't mean I trust/believe every single word they say about a product, but I also know that they will probably have more knowledge about said product than a lot of others.
Sorry that got a little long, but I just don't get it.

That mostly sums it up for me too except the Triumph. Never shot one so i have no opinion on them other than they appear to have a descent weight without being too heavy.

The only reason i even like the Savage is it can do things many guns can not, including my NULA. Such as shoot a 325gr bullet at 2300fps with plenty of safety room to spare. Its a pig though and i don't hunt with heavy guns unless im on a Safari hunt. :p

Ive been searching for a ThunderBolt in 451 because IMO it will do things none of my others can do as well. Like shoot 45cal 400gr-460gr+ conicals MOA with cheap old Pyro. It even has a optional 32S&W 336 breach plug and its a super rare gun. Its also the only White that is totally BH209 compatible without any mods. I enjoy owning low production guns and Doc was the man when he was in charge!!!!

His new Sporting rifles are works of art and built with some of the finest parts available. Such as Manton style breach bolsters made from 4140 and match grade Douglas barrels.

He has a one of a kind early 451 prototype right now for $800 OBO that is really tempting me.

My Elite 45s are fantastic to carry for a full sized gun and shoot my "fun loads" with amazing consistency. The hunting loads are not far behind. My love affair with Knight though didn't fully "engage" until i got the Lehigh NFPJ conversion. That removed all the complaints i had and the breach seldom needs cleaning.

I sold one of my best Knights to Chet ONLY because i knew he loved a good ole MK85 and mine was mint NIB. I got a deal and he got a deal. I saved it from another year on a table at the gun shows but if i would have shot it, i probably wouldn't have been able to sell it. The trigger and balance is amazing.

The GMB54 is still at the top of my list and worth every penny of the MSRP but im partial to carbines in 54cal. Even my favorite CF is a carbine and fairly rare.

The ULA is a very close second only because i haven't had as much time with her. Fit and finish are better than any gun i have ever owned. They should be for the cost. First impressions though go a LONG way and its passed that day with flying colors. It is a PITA to prime though without the proper tool.

This topic is being locked until I or another mod (or admin) has time to clean it up. For those of you posting links to other commercial websites (that includes Facebook, Twitter, etc.), calling other members names or just continuing to argue about who is a shill or not, this is somewhere between strike 2 and Strike 2 with a foul ball.

After this topic is cleaned up, some of you would be well advised to use the complaint button INSTEAD of hashing this out in the forum. If you continue to attack each other, you will be getting a temporary ban. If the temp ban doesn't get your attention, you will get a permanent ban and can then go someplace else to continue the unsportsmanlike behavior and posting. If you have any questions, please PM me.

And for the record, I do not see a problem with the post by chetmarks to start this topic.
