New Range
My neighbor let me borrow his bulldozer a few days ago and today the rain slacked off long enough for me to fill up the fuel tank and go at it some more. I finished up my new range this evening and now can shoot out to 170 yards! I was hoping for 200 but i just didn't have the guts to go up along the side of a rocky area as i've only been operating a dozer for 3 days LOL. It just seemed to scary and so im more than happy with the 170 yard range.
Have a good deal of cleaning up to do tomorrow and will need to push up a load of dirt so i can level off the shooting bench and get that all squared away. Uploading some pics here so i will post them in a bit. |
that sounds wonderful...

ok this was day one when i started working. I knocked that lower branch off today with the dozer LOL. It was an accident, i normally would cut it but this worked out a lot easier. I added a lot more dirt/clay up there today and its big enough to park the dozer up on top.
![]() Cutting down some of the mound going down range. It will be easier to walk now that i've cut the angle down a great deal. ![]() ![]() My old food plot area that never grows anything LOL. Hopefully now that ive stirred up the soil, tore out tree trunks and oak brush roots, things will be better next year. Im going to throw down grass seed this month as soon as i get the ATV/rake out there to flatten things out and spread the loose soil around. Keeping my fingers crossed that grass will at least grow. ![]() Famous Colorado oak brush root that was One foot under ground! Size 13 shoe for comparison. ![]() Start of my pond. I never done this before sooo its going to be a learning process as i go. The wildlife will benefit from it greatly as there isn't any running water. ![]() But thats the start of my new muzzle loading range! Im happy with the distances i have now and thats even perfect for centerfire as well. I'll get more pictures once everything is all set up in place. I am going to clear some other areas for shorter 25 sight in range, 50 yard, 75, 100 and of course the 150 and 170 yard markers. Have plenty of the Portable target range deals to use so it will be nice to finally have my dream range. |
Looks pretty sweet. I'm sure all of us wish we had the range you got. Especially if it was in our backyard. But I can't complain about the club I belong to. Here's a link to their website. http://www.bluecreeksport.com/

That's doing it big time Devil. Looks good. You will, of course, build a covered shooting bench.

Darn right i will!! Maybe a box blind/shooting bench set up deal. I'd have to set this up at the 125 yard mark though as the 170yrd marker is just loose dirt piled up on top of the mountain. Maybe even put it a good 6 to 8 feet in the air for some distance viewing.

Those pictures show some beautiful country. You're a lucky man to have it and have enough room for your own shooting range.
