Trade 50 cal renegade barrels? 1:28 (mine) for 1:48 (yours)?

I have a 1:28 renegade sidelock drop in Green mountain barrel. 50 cal. Can't seem to get it to shoot conicals well and that is about all I shoot. Anyone with a 1:48 want to trade? I already have a 54 cal 1:48, but want to be able to shoot the same bullets as my 50 cal inlines. Can't say mine would have no rust, but I have cleaned and oiled it immediately after every shooting session. Have only shot maybe 60-80 shots.

If not, do you know where they can be bought? Doesn't look like GMB makes them anymore? Looking on places like gunauction.com, etc.

GM says the 1-28 barrel is made for sabots.

I have 3-4 50 cal Rene barrels that i would trade for a 1-28 GM-LRH.

Should ask is a 1" barrel or a 15/16 -> probably would not be able to work a deal if it is a 1"

But I have to tell you I have had good luck with both of my 1-28's shooting Bull Shops.

It is a 1 inch. have not tried bullshops, but have no excuses, maxiballs and a couple of FPBs. I want to try FPBs again before I give up on it. I did all the floating/accurizing on the stock/barrel that sabot recommended and need to shoot some more to be sure. It could be by going up to the 0.504 (no excuses are 0.503) that might make a difference.

Are you wanting to shoot round balls from this new barrel?? A 1-28 should do better with conicals than a 1-48. I would think you would be looking for a 1-18 if you only want to shoot conicals.

But those 1-18 barrels are as scarce as hens teeth. I talked to Green Mountain a few months ago. I told them they need to consider another run of 1-18's. The tech said it was in consideration. But I don't really know what that means. Tom.

Sabot, if you have Renegade barrels, they are 1" so you should be OK. The Hawken barrels are 15.16" (except the .54 Hawken).

Head, that's the polite way of telling you to kiss off! If the demand isn't there they aren't going to make them.

I did check my original T/C 54 barrel and it is 1 inch as well.

They have made several runs of those barrels over the years. And from what I understand they are not the most popular by far-no doubt about that. But the guy told me they do sell well in the limited runs they do.

I guess they do the limited runs in slow times. And even though our economy is slow. The rifle business is definitley not in slow time. Tom.

Opinions do seem to vary on that don't they. I know many of the 1:24 Whites are tack drivers with conicals, but I hear from many sources that on average 1:48 will shoot conicals well. My 54 is a 1:48 and shoots conicals well. I should probably just go back to it, but just like all the new options with conicals available in 50 cal. And the new T/C northwest, sold as a conical shooter is a f1:48 twist.
